A mid-sized university planned to upgrade its old finance and human resources systems with Oracle ERP Cloud to make its processes smoother and improve how it handles reports. The main aim was to use Oracle ERP and combined database management to make better decisions.
The university’s IT team was not very familiar with handling Oracle Database Administration (DBA) and setting up Oracle ERP systems, which made moving to the new system a complex task. Staff who were used to the old system were reluctant to switch, leading to challenges in getting them to use the new system and highlighting the need for effective training.
To address these challenges, the university partnered with an Oracle-certified consultant specializing in Oracle Database 12c and Oracle Fusion Middleware. This consultant provided expertise in Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM), ensuring a robust installation. Concurrently, comprehensive training sessions utilizing Oracle University resources were organized for staff, focusing on Oracle Financials Cloud and Oracle HCM Cloud modules. The DBA team, using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), focused on ensuring data security and integrity, especially for sensitive employee and student information.
Implementation: The installation process involved setting up Oracle WebLogic Server for application deployment and using Oracle Data Guard for high availability and disaster recovery. The Oracle Exadata Database Machine was considered to enhance performance and scalability.
The installation, managed efficiently using Oracle Project Management Cloud was completed on time and within budget. The new Oracle ERP Cloud system were supported by robust Oracle security protocols and Oracle Audit Vault and Database Firewall, was well-received after initial resistance. It significantly improved the efficiency of administrative processes, with notable improvements in data processing speed and reporting accuracy, thanks to the Oracle Business Intelligence suite.
